The Secret Circle The Captive Part II and The Power L J Smith Books
L.J. Smith is a great author for teens! She writes lovely romances that don't overshadow the main storyline and that feel real despite the fantastic subject matter. Cassie is a very typical shy teenager - tongue-tied and a little awkward but as the story progresses, she grows into herself and breaks away from the scared little girl she starts out as. This book is meant for teenagers and written as such; the tropes are real, but the story is clear and still enjoyable to reread as an adult. This is half of the second book and the third book. You need to pick up "The Initiation and The Captive pt 1" to understand what's going on.

The Secret Circle The Captive Part II and The Power L J Smith Books Reviews
These books are very similar to the series that is out.
read this in middle school the first time.....stuck with me so long had to research to find who wrote it and what the series was called. this series truly began my love of reading
There's no word to describe how much I liked this book. Anyone interested in this kind of stories should read it. I will not keep up with the others because they're not from the same author and I don't want to spoil this. Hope L. J. Smith would re-wright those.
I started watching the show and really understand why it was only one season. They only used they names and the concepts of the story everything else they simply ruin it, sadly!
I read all the books in this series in a matter of 2 days. I read all the vampire diaries and then of course watched the show and started watching secret circle as well and wanted to read the books are liking the show. Well, the books are great! You will love Cassie, I prefer the book cassie of the show, she can be annoying.
Both of these books are great, LJ smith really satisfies the readers in these and makes everything fall into place in exciting ways. I highly recommend this book
I liked this show, was devastated that it was cancelled so soon. I heeded the review warnings and did not continue past "the Power" but sometimes I wish I did. The storyline was fun but I think the books should have been all together. Currently, the three books are mashed into two (book two split in half) but the books are short and fast enough to compile further.
The Secret Circle The Captive Part 2 and The Power
By L.J. Smith
Review by Samantha
The Secret Circle The Captive Part 2 and The Power is the 3rd and 4th part of book 2, by L.J. Smith. This book is 416 pages of pure excellence. You travel throughout the story in the mind of Cassie and her struggles to keep herself and the circle alive. They know why everyone is dying in New Salem, but everyone else blames the circle. Black John who has gone by many names before and minds died many time too, is the killer, he twisted people's mind to make the circle the one to blame for everyone else. L.J. Smith has an amazing writing style that keep the reader involved with the story. She uses suspense to keep the reader interested, she uses funny quotes; she makes it so that you think you are in the book and minds of Cassie, Diana, Adam, Faye, Melissa, Deborah, Suzan, Nick, and all the other characters. This book is a made for teenagers and young teenagers because for young adults and adult this book would be too childish and unsatisfactory, plus it deals with young adults who are witches with powers.
A quote that I really like from this book and I think is funny is Cassie "I guess the fact that you're the most beautiful person I've seen in my entire life doesn't hurt." Diana "I'm sorry you grow up around such ugly people." This is a good quote because it shows how the author uses her own sense of humor in a way that it doesn't hurt the character and makes the situation funny.
A quote that I did not like was Faye "Oh and I forgot, we have the dark magic super twins on our side." This quote that the author uses show the sarcastic side of her but I don't like this quote because it also shows a childish side of the characters who are suppose to be in their late teens and not early teen years.
The first book in this series lacked real suspense and action. I wasn't going to read this one, but my sister convinced me to give it a try. I discovered that this book is extremely suspenseful, as well as surprising and dark, with many twists and turns. The characters are so believable that I began to consider them my own friends as well as Cassie's. Each member of the Circle has a distinct personality and realistic points of view on each problem they deal with.
The danger in this book forces all of the Circle's members bond and stick together through thick and thin. Half of the time, it was like a horror movie, with me screaming at Cassie' NOT TO OPEN THAT DOOR or NOT TO GO IN THERE ALONE! Of course, Cassie never listened and left me gripping the edge of my seat while she the delves deeper into the world of magic and secrets.
L.J. Smith has done it again! She is a master of creating wonderful characters and tense plots. Her books always leave me wanting more. Bravo!
