I read this book some years ago and it came to my attention now as part of the "Lords of Ireland" bundle. I re-read it and enjoyed it all over again. The premise is that the h is the shamed daughter of a Lord when the H comes to her father's keep to choose a bride. She had been attacked years before and left with a terrible scar down the side of her face. The H meets her when she comes to attend to an injury he has and he propositions her without knowing who she was. Her father plans to trick the H into marrying his daughter because he doesn't want him marrying the daughters from his second marriage. The H happily picks the h and they marry but not before the h's step-mother makes him think she is not an innocent. The main characters don't consummate their marriage because of the lies and both are exceptionally stubborn. All of the chemistry is there though and it's a wonderful story. I went on to read the next in the series because I so enjoyed this one again.Tags : The Irish Devil (Irish Eyes Romance) [Donna Fletcher] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. We had lush setting, a little sparkle of folk law, rain... what I really wish I could hear was the Irish lilt. So sexy.
One discarded daughter becomes the treasure of a fierce Irish/Viking warrior. It's only fitting that she be kind, compassionate, a skilled healer and holdout until he recognises the truth about her. Then sex, lotsa sexy time even a couple of caveman moves.
I love the banter between both the three friends as well as the couple. I admire Faith's trust in Eric though teasing out information about her scarring attack takes time. That even as he roars she's not afraid and has faith he'll protect her. There is nothing redeeming in the cruel, heartless greedy villains aka Faith's parents, a bit Disney-ish
Not historically weighty but more on the developing romance.
Lord Eric of Shanekill, also known as the Irish Devil arrives at Lord William's and Lady Terra's castle to marry one of their daughters. The evening before his potential brides are presented to him he calls for a healer to tend to a wound. When the healer arrives he is very much attracted to her and makes bawdily proposals to her, which the healer turns down. However, the woman haunts him and sets his standards against which he compares the three possible brides. He doesn't like any of them and is surprised to discover that the healer is in fact Lady Faith, the shunned daughter of Lord William, who forces Eric to choose her as a bride. Eric senses that deceit is involved but he likes Lady Faith and chooses her as his bride. Lady Faith is too shocked to react to this marriage but she doesn't have a choice, additionally, she fears that Eric will discover her secret and is afraid of his reaction but until this moment arrives she is determined to live her life as happily as possible.
Wonderfully written love story that I read in one day! The plot isn't anything unusual and of course there is a happy end - as is expected of this genre.
The main characters were interesting enough and the secondary characters, mainly Eric's friends were very entertaining. Eric was presented as a dark warrior hero who earned his fame through fearless and fierce fights. In any case beneath this image lies a strong, stubborn but also tender and loving man. Faith, a worthy counterpart, was presented as a proud, intelligent but very troubled soul who only slowly began to trust her husband.
If you love a good Highland romance that focuses mainly (if not exclusively) on romance (and not history) you will love this book.
Donna Fletcher is one of my favorite authors. I love her style of writing with the right blend of interesting characters, that a reader can both identify with and have strong feelings for, and her books have a hot simmering passion that will not disappoint the adult readers of her romance novels.
The Irish Devil is a fantastic read. Eric of Shanekill, the Irish Devil, is promised a bride and given a choice of one of the three daughter of Lord William. There he meets Lord William's fourth daughter, Faith. Shunned and banished, Faith is as kind as she is beautiful. She is hated by her father and step-mother for having had the audacity to survive a vicious attack that left her with a telltale scar which to them shows her shame and sin. With only her dog, Rook, as her companion she becomes the healer of her clan. She meets the Irish Devil when called upon to give aid to an injury he sustained in battle. He is very attracted to the healer. You will not be disappointed in reading their love story.
I can not wait to read the next novel Irish Hope.
This was a good book. Drug on a bit and lacked the more excitement some of her books had, but it was a good story... But if you are like me and like to picture the characters on the cover in the book, I am warning you now... Don't read this! It bothered me so much how different this cover is from how the characters are described... With her bright red curly hair and his long hair that fell into his face... UHHGGG... But if you don't care about that, like I said, it was a good story. The sequel is great as well
Eric needs to take a wife and is given the choice of one of the three daughters of a nobleman. He had a small injury the night before and is seen by the clans healer who he is immediately drawn to. Suprise suprise the nobleman has four daughters, the healer being one of them. You go into the book to see that Faith had an awful attack happen to her and lives with the mark of it. Eric wants to know the result of such an attack and Faith won't tell him. They have several scrimmages and battle of wills that you have to laugh. I could feel their frustration for the other so easily. Questions begin to be answered toward the end and we find out about Faith's attack. Faith and Eric were a cute couple and I liked Borg and Bridget love story. I enjoyed this book immensely and have read it several times.
