I agree somewhat with reviewers who say this author writes the same story with different locations and characters but in this case I don't care! She got this one so right for me. Very good at creating sexual tension that starts very low and very slowly builds to characters acting upon it. Loved the trauma chief! The filmmaker was certainly likeable but not as strongly independently developed - she seemed to be exactly whatever the Dr needed at the moment, in a way. Still I respected and liked her and was pulling for her also. Such a delicious tension between feeling the want between them, independently and unsure of the other's feelings, but not satisfying it quickly or being given any guarantee it would ever be satisfied! The delicious tension was a main player in this story, for me. Both characters are a bit of atypical superwomen but I didn't mind - I think part of a work of fiction is to create a mood, an environment, a feeling, and/or to provide a backdrop against which to play out issues; since it's fiction I care more about the thoughts/feelings it evokes in me than the perfect creation of characters, to a certain extent. After starting a new book at the end of this one, my thoughts were still circling around this story and I couldn't help myself but to come back to this one to savor again :)Tags : Passion's Bright Fury [Radclyffe] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <div>When a trauma surgeon and a filmmaker become reluctant allies on the battleground between life and death,Radclyffe,Passion's Bright Fury,Bold Strokes Books,1933110546,Romance - Contemporary,FICTION LGBT Lesbian,FICTION Romance Contemporary,FICTION Romance LGBT Lesbian,Fiction,Fiction - General,Fiction-Romance,GENERAL,General Adult,Lesbian,Modern & contemporary fiction (post c 1945),POPULAR AMERICAN FICTION,Romance,RomanceModern,Romance: Modern,United States

Saxon Sinclair is a brilliant trauma chief is told she will allow a documentary filmmaker, Jude Castle, into her trauma unit. The sparks fly between the two women.
Whether you read Radclyffe's series books or you read one of her stand-alone romances, you can not go wrong.
I have been reading lesbian fiction for many years, and can honestly say that I have never come across a writer that has so affected me. Her characters are strong, intelligent, and romantic. Naysayers will say that Radclyffe's characters are too perfect almost never flawed - either in looks or character. That may be true, but aren't you tired of the genre's penchant for ordinary? Radclyffe's characters are always enchanting, intoxicating, enticing, and intense. The stories, particularly in the series books, are all first class. Most of her series books are page-turners. And in two of the books, I actually turned to the last page to make sure that the main characters survived - something I never do.
Radclyffe let us believe, at least for the duration of each of her books, that the grand passion, the true love, the happy-ever-after are all possible. She lets us believe that being a strong, intelligent woman does not mean that we will be alone and/or isolated.
The only caveat I have is to read the series books in order. And if you enjoy watching a writer grow, then read the non-series books in the order they were written and watch Radclyffe's talent grow before your very eyes.
A really great story.....Rad really knows how to create the emotional tension
and not loose the love story. Well developed characters. I would have liked to
known Sax and Jude......s well as Deb and Mel.
I know many are critical of Radclyffe's "formula". I've truthfully been avoiding because, well, I shouldn't allow myself to be such easy prey. But there is something special here. For one, Jude, the fem, is NOT short, blond, blue-eyed or without any singular talents or abilities. She's very interesting, engaging and gifted (in addition to her appearance). This element is missing in so many books in this genre...two powerful leads. Plus Radclyffe knows how to write authentic medical dramas. She just does. Couldn't put it down. 4 stars instead of 5 because it is formulaic --just because I'm a sucker for it doesn't mean it's right.
Love Radclyffe work despite the formula. I do find it slightly upsetting to have a trauma surgeon riding a motorcycle though)
I like the build up of emotions between Sax and Jude. The leather bar scene is hot. I also like that both characters are strong. Usually it's the butch that gets all the attention in Radclyffe's stories, but this time Jude gets some time in this book. One big minus for me in most of Rad's work is non-stop talking during sex and special announcements about climaxing. I've never heard of anyone announcing that they are about to come. maybe I don't know much....
Otherwise, it's a fun read.
***Updated Review***
I am so happy I read this book again because I knew I was missing something the first time around. I was compelled to read this a second time because when I read it the first time I knew that something about it was different from her other books. This story was very intense and you are not dealing with your usual femme needing the brooding butch or tortured butch needing the calming presence of a femme. No way, both of these women were Alpha's and tough as nails. They complemented each other well and this love-story was just simply different. I got a strong vibe from her other book, Fated Love, similar to that book also in a hospital setting with two strong women, the romance took time to build in a very romantic and passionate way. The intensity between Sax and Jude here was/is just as palpable between Honor and Quinn in Fated Love. Sax and Jude did not fall into bed immediately, Rad slowly got us there and it was worth the wait. Sure, the sex scenes were nothing new, tame yet still hot, lots of passionate conversation during the act itself. It was the release of actually getting to the sex that was so damn good! You say to yourself, "YES!! FINALLY!!."
Rad's writing is superb as always, she never fails to make those connections with her leads and bring you into those moments. She is a true romantic, and I was amazed at all the moments I missed in the book the first time around. My favorite line from Sax to Jude, " I want to abide in your secret places and catch your tears before they fall." Oh my...swoon. I was so gone after reading that, cried on the spot.
This one did have it all, passion, excitement, drama, and again the hospital drama did not overshadow the romance and was just right. Again, glad I gave it another shot and found the things I missed the first time around. 5 stars!!!!
